I was in the mood for something a little different this morning but didn't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. So I decided to look up a recipe for baked french toast. I had some white bread that needed to be used up. This was really easy to put together. I found it on Pinterest...Love that site, dangerous at times when I don't need to spend all day on it!!! Anyway here is what I did; this recipe was found on http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/02/baked-french-toast-sticks.html
5 pieces of bread (any kind you have on hand with top crust cut off) Cut into thick strips
4 eggs beaten well
2 tablespoons of cream or half n half ( milk will work too if that's all you have on hand)
good sprinkle of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar topping (or mix 1/4 cup sugar with and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon in a small bowl)
1.Combine the eggs, cream, cinnamon, and vanilla in a square dish so you can dip the bread into the mixture.
2. Place each piece of bread on a greased cookie sheet or Pampered Chef Stone Cookie Sheet.
3. Sprinkle each piece with a little cinnamon sugar topping. Just enough to cover the whole piece. This makes a good crust.
4. Place on High broil for 2-3 min or until golden. Flip then sprinkle the other side with cinnamon sugar topping. Bake for another 2-3 min. Keep your eye on them. Each oven is different. Serve with fresh berries and warm syrup.
Enjoy,
